Michael Ras is the Conservative candidate in Mississauga Lakeshore. He is running to represent and advocate for his community to make it a safer, more inclusive and more prosperous community for everyone.
Michael has spent his entire career as an advocate, campaigner, and strategic advisor, helping business, associations and charities in partnering with government at all levels. Presently, he is Director of Government and Stakeholder Relations at Meridian Credit Union, Ontario’s largest credit union. In this role, he promotes public policy solutions for affordable housing and financial literacy and programs to build the financial resilience of its 370,000 Members across Ontario.
Michael serves his community as a volunteer Board member with Radius Child & Youth – an agency that provides counselling and treatment services to children and youth who experience trauma and neglect; and CareerEdge – a social enterprise that provides paid internships for recent graduates, new Canadians and Canadian Armed Forces veterans to help them launch their professional careers.
Michael is married to Ward 2, Mississauga City Councillor Karen Ras. They are the proud parents of teenage daughters. Michael and his family have lived in south Mississauga for over 15 years. At home, everyone pitches in to care for three cats and a dog, Archie, who loves nothing more than to romp around at Jack Darling Off-Leash Park or walk the trails and paths of south Mississauga.
